Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

On our last Searchlight program, we began considering the story in John chapter 13 where Jesus washes

the feet of his disciples when Jesus came to Peter to wash his feet Peter vehemently

objected Peter knew that this was a menial task that should be done by a servant

Jesus told Peter that if he wouldn't let Jesus wash his

feet, there would be no relationship between them. Peter then reverses his statement and says that

Jesus should wash all of him. We can appreciate the enthusiasm of Peter, but we need to understand

what Peter did not understand until later.

Jesus was giving us a picture of confession and sanctification. As we join our teaching today,

we are looking at an Old Testament picture of this issue in Exodus chapter 30. With our study,

here now is Pastor John. Verse 17, the Lord spoke into Moses

saying, thou shalt also make a labor or a bowl or a basin, if you would, of brass. And thou shalt

put water therein. Or, when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offerings made by fire under the Lord,
