for having me. Talking today about the philosophy of education, if I'm not mistaken, your dissertation

on the subject? So I did a dual PhD in philosophy and philosophy of education. Yes. So a good

person to talk to about this. Why is philosophy of education so important?

Well, that's a great question. I think the shortest answer is because you can't do education

without it. So throughout history, people have recognized continually that philosophical questions

and educational practice are closely intertwined and that the doing of education,

the practices of education, are based whether you recognize it or not, on the answers you give

to key philosophical questions. And so thinking about those and considering them is actually

really important. Do we talk enough today? Is there enough

discourse in the education realm focused on the philosophy of education? The short answer is,

I would argue, absolutely not. The sad truth is that today, in most schools of education,

most educational discourse,

there is very little of what we would call traditional philosophical thought.
