Okay, all the controllers in the room, raise your hands. I sure have to raise mine. This month on the

Jesus Over Everything show, I'm bringing to us very simple five-word holiday prayers to encourage

and strengthen, maybe even challenge us at times. With the holidays being a time, we often tend to

take on even more burdens than usual. Try to be a peacemaker for our families,

try to do it all and be at all. A lot of us could use this particular five-word prayer.

This is not my territory. Yes, this is a prayer of confession and surrender of our control to the

Lord. Today on the Jesus Over Everything show,

I'm your host, Lisa Whittle, and if you're new here, welcome. If you've been around, you know how

this goes. Jesus, honesty, and straight talk. Let's go. Once again, I'm drawing from a book I wrote in 2017 called Five Word Prayers,

a little 40-day devotional book.

Today's prayer is so powerful.

I believe it's one you're not going to soon forget.

The Lord reminds us not only that we are not in charge,

even when we think we are, but it says in Psalm 1153, our God is in the heavens. He does all that he

pleases. He pleases, not us. Here we go. This is not my territory. We are manic controllers by nature,

getting our hands into everything, pushing circumstances to go our way, adjusting the timetable to

our perfect scenario. It's hard for us to imagine that someone else could have a better plan,

and rarely are we willing to entertain

even the idea. We want our way, our path. But then a circumstance comes along that is outside

our ability to control. On that day, we are forced to lift our hands in a posture of surrender

and admit, I can't do this. I can't fix it.

I can't maneuver this situation and make it right. Those are agonizing admissions, and it's hard to
