There are some guests I have onto Joe because I find the conversation they are leading out in very

important to you as a listener and today is such a show. Gary Thomas, a very astute scholar who

serves as an adjunct faculty member for several seminaries, has authored 19 books and holds both

a master's degree and an honorary doctor in divinity has a new book out

called When to Walk Away, Finding Freedom from Toxic People. I have to tell you, when I saw

the title of this book, I immediately wanted to have Gary on because one of the things so many

people struggle with, I know, is knowing when to cut someone out of our lives. We feel guilt

and responsibility and meeting needs of unhealthy people, and we truly want to do what's right

in the eyes of God, but we don't know what that is most of the time. Gary helps us with that

today, and I am so grateful for his wisdom on the Jesus Over Everything show.

I'm not. I'm one of those who wasn't born here but got here as soon as I could. I love Texas,

but I'm actually a Seattle boy. I've just been in Texas just short of a decade.

Well, I like Seattle too. That doesn't make me mad at all. It's one of my favorite places to visit. In fact, I will be in Seattle in about a week. So I'll say hi for you.

Well, this is the best time. August and September, that's when you go to Seattle. The rest of the year, pack your umbrella and raincoat.
