Hi, everyone. My name is Erin Moon, and I wanted to chat with you a little today about an upcoming season in the church calendar. It's called Lent. And you can think of Lent as the John the Baptist of Easter. Lent prepares the way for our hearts and minds to grasp the beauty of Easter. It's the plow that breaks up the soil for planting. Lent is dark as far as

church seasons go. Everyone can get excited about Advent. There's a baby. He's adorable. They are animals,

interested, but Lent is tough. The themes of Lent are self-denial, penance, and sorrow.

You deny yourself. You make yourself uncomfortable. You think about your impending demise a lot.

Nobody wants to do that. You can't really understand Lent until you understand as much as it's
