She's witty. She's fun. And listen, this woman is also a lover of God's word, which you know

is My Great Love as well. But here are a few particulars about Aaron. She's the C.O of the

Popcast Media Group, which houses the ever-popular podcast. Many of you love called The Popcast. She's the

resident Bible scholar on the Bible binge podcast, another fun podcast a lot of you love. And among her

other Bible studies she's written, she's just written a Lent study called O Heavy Lightness

that I wanted her to come on to talk about for a few days on our show. Lent is something a lot of us

aren't as familiar with,

and I asked Erin to help us better understand, so today she's doing just that. I think you'll

find this show really rich and important. So Aaron, welcome to Jesus over everything.

Hi, everyone. My name is Erin Moon, and I wanted to chat with you a little today about an upcoming season in the church calendar. It's called Lent. And you can think of Lent as the John the Baptist of Easter. Lent prepares the way for our hearts and minds to grasp the beauty of Easter. It's the plow that breaks up the soil for planting. Lent is dark as far as

church seasons go. Everyone can get excited about Advent. There's a baby. He's adorable. They are animals,

and we get presents. Pentecost is weird and almost magical. T tongues of fire. Yes, I'm very

interested, but Lent is tough. The themes of Lent are self-denial, penance, and sorrow.

You deny yourself. You make yourself uncomfortable. You think about your impending demise a lot.

Nobody wants to do that. You can't really understand Lent until you understand as much as it's

possible to understand anything, the end of Lent. Easter. If you've grown up in church or church adjacent,

you probably know that Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And isn't Easter adorable?
