After a week jobs report, President Donald Trump appeared to take a swipe at Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

On social media, he blamed Powell for keeping interest rates high.

And Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-Doremer echoed those sentiments on Fox News today.

Well, 22,000 jobs underperformed just a bit, but it's still in the positive.

Almost a half a million jobs have been created since the president took office.

It's going to take some time.

But again, when everybody's working for the American people and the American worker and somebody chooses not to, and they're instrumental in those decisions that affect the market, that affect

the wage growth, that affect all of those things, do your job.

Economists were already expecting an unimpressive set of data for the August jobs report,

but the actual numbers came in far worse. Just 22,000 jobs were added

last month. The unemployment rate rose to 4.3%, the highest level since 2021, meaning 7.4 million

Americans are without work. And for the first time since the pandemic, the economy lost jobs,

shutting 13,000 positions in June.
