0:00.0 | Hey everyone, hi, hello, it is me, Allison Rosen. Welcome to another episode of Allison Rosen, as your new best friend. |
0:28.7 | I am sitting here with Return Guest, Jim Florentine. Hello. How are you? I'm good. Welcome back. Yes, I think it's like my third or fourth time. I think it's your third time. I feel honored. Yep, you are in an elite cadre of winning guests. Really? Pretty much, yeah. I mean, there are some others who've come back that many times, but you passed the test. Thank you. Yeah. I hope you feel good. I do. I will present you with a gigantic key later. |
0:58.7 | There's CAKE, confetti will fall from the ceiling, and also will present you with a big check. But you had no idea all that was going to happen. That's wonderful. Never had to happen before. I know. Yeah, it's the first time I've ever done it, but it just seems appropriate. So, fill me in. The last time we talked was May of 2015. So, about a little over a year and a half ago. And your life, actually, you were in a good place, but your marriage. |
1:28.7 | It just fell apart. Yeah, I got the worst of a month before that. Right. Was official. Yeah. And your wife, if I recall, had cheated on you with her CrossFit trainer. Well, not trainer, but the CrossFit buddy. Yeah. Workout partner. Yeah. Spotter. What was he to her? Who knows? You know, just a fuck buddy. Yeah, some douchebag in the gym. Yeah. That, you know, praise unmarried woman. You know, I got a guy. Right. |
1:58.9 | But young because I want to remember when we talked about it. And then it was in the press. I don't like a month like very soon after. So he was a cop, right. Yeah. |
2:10.0 | So how's everything now? How are you doing now? Everything's good. You know, it's time has passed. So, you know, we have a son together. So we got to raise them. You know, so we have to get along. So everything's good. Everything's, you know, it's on good terms right now. Right. Good. It was rocky for a little while, but you got it, you know, you got to set aside a difference. It's for the kid. |
2:27.2 | How hard is that though? It's tough. It is because, you know, you're not parenting full time. Right. So when you're only parenting half the time, it's, you know, |
2:38.0 | you can't make decisions together. They can, she could do pretty much what she wants to do with them. I could do pretty much what I want to do with them as far as raising them. So, but whatever. I mean, you make it work. |
2:48.2 | But we have a great time. And I'm with them. It's a blast. I love it. You know, chairs the time. And then the other time, and I'm not with them. I'm working. So works out perfect. Right. |
2:55.6 | Is, are you happy with joint custody? Like, was that way you both wanted? Yeah. Yeah. We both wanted. You know, and I, you know, you want, you want, you know, both parents in his life. So it works out perfect for us. |
3:06.3 | Works out for our schedules and all that stuff. So, yeah, it's all good right now. |
3:10.4 | Good. What I read in the stories about the whole thing. |
3:16.2 | Um, you, it was, he was a cop in the town that your family and your family was in the same town. And you were concerned about retaliatory measures. Yeah. |
3:26.1 | Did any of that come to pass? No, nothing came. It's a little town. So, you know, you do worry about those things. A little town in New Jersey were, you know, about five or six of my family members live in. So, but nothing has happened. So, you know, hopefully it's, it's not going to be a problem. Right. Yeah. |
3:42.2 | And then also I remember I wondered if you thought this might leave you with any trust issues because the podcast before that, which was 2013 to go, we're going to go away back to the archives. Right. |
3:56.7 | When everything was good in your marriage, you were talking about having like you had broken the streak of dating women where you needed to save them. |
4:05.6 | Because that had kind of been your pattern before and you found this woman that you felt like was it was a really healthy relationship. And I just wonder. |
4:14.3 | Given what happened. I had wondered a year and a half ago, give, excuse me, given what happened. If that would leave you with a feeling of like, oh, I don't know that I can trust my ability to read people or any of that. And you didn't think it would. |
4:27.7 | No, I don't think it will. I'm, you know, I'm pretty good at reading people, but, you know, sometimes obviously not. But no, the next relationship, you know, you go in with a clean slate. You just don't jump in before you're not ready. I learned from, you know, past relationships. Don't do a rebound. You know, he'll get over whatever you got to go and, you know, everybody gets a clean slate. |
4:46.4 | So I've always gone into it like that. So, you know, next time I just know that that's what I have to do when I'm ready to get back in the relationship. But I'm not going to hold it again. Somebody else that. |
4:54.5 | The next person because, you know, somebody cheated on me, you know, that's happened before in the past relationships. |
4:59.9 | What's happened before? You know, the cheating, you know, when you're in high school and then, you know, college, a lot of stuff. So, you know, but that's just as do what it is. But I'm not going to hold it against anybody. Everybody gets a clean slate. |
