We're trying to get back to some of these basics of loving people, of caring for people

of being kind and compassionate, and from there, letting the perception of what it means

to be Christian, play itself out, because we can't control that, but what we can control

are our actions and how we're choosing to engage in a new moment.

That's Gabe Lyons.

He grew up in Jerry Falwell's church, then went out into the world to discover that the

word Christian had become a frightening term in places in American culture.

He's now a 30-something thought leader for many young Christians and evangelicals who

are reimagining their part in common life, common good, something much bigger than politics.

And I spoke with Gabe Lyons in a public event at the Humphrey School of Public Affairs,

together with another unlikely agent of change on the conservative Christian spectrum.

I think when people in Christian leaders, the older Christian leadership says, where are

those future leaders?

They're just not there.

They want gladiators.

They want culture warriors.

And the amazing thing is, I think God is answering their question, and they don't even

see it.
