It is so lovely to be here with you tonight. This evening we are reading the final pages of Jill.

But before that, I'll give you some time to settle down for the night.

Give yourself a nice, big stretch where you are,

allowing all the tension to release from your muscles.

You have nothing left to do today, but get a good night's sleep.

That's such a nice feeling, isn't it? Now let's take some deep breaths to calm our minds.

Inhale deeply and mentally collect all the thoughts still occupying your concentration

and exhale letting them all go.

Once more now, inhale and exhale.

Jill was being discharged from hospital and on her last day requested half an hour with Sister Helena,

whose work always interrupted their conversations.

As the day grew on, Jill began to be more and more disappointed.

When she finally arrived on the ward, Sister Helena explained that a man had been brought in with a head wound who had seemed otherwise well.

But when any loud noises erupted, he seemed to act very erratically and violently.

She had to sit with him all day until she could trust that his sanity was intact and leave his watch to a nurse. That nurse had felt ill, and the watch had then been left to Nurse Mary, who had fallen asleep, as was her wand.

The patient had snuck out of his bed, found a pickaxe and made his way to Jill's ward,
