stuff that no longer brings you joy. I'm Ferl Cotton and today I'm meeting the incredibly

courageous Jesse Nelson. When I entered the music industry I just thought it was always

going to be about music and it ended up being about my appearance and it really, really

like mentally messed with my head. Like to be in a girl group there's like it's so much

pressure and to be compared every single day to three other girls was draining and I couldn't

deal with that anymore. Over the last ten years Jesse has become famous all over the world

as part of Girl Band little mix but fame and the pressures and judgments that come with

it isn't what the girl who had dreams of making music signed up for. So on the 14th of December

2020 Jesse posted a statement on her social media announcing that after six albums in nine

years she was leaving little mix. You might have watched her 2019 BBC documentary Jesse

Nelson odd one out where she spoke very movingly about the effect trolling especially about

her appearance has had on her over the years. That documentary had a profound effect on me.

When we met up with Jesse in central London I know we've recorded this one in person which

was just absolutely gorgeous. I wanted to find out if the pressure of being compared to

her bandmates has lightened now that she's a solo artist and how she plans to carve a new
