During today's conversation on Back Porch Theology, Allie effectively punked me in the sweetest of ways, of course, and she coerced me into not just telling, but also acting out what is perhaps the craziest, most embarrassing story

in my entire life kind of crazy, embarrassing stories.

But then after our initial belly laughs, Allie and I dive pretty deep, as is often the case

with BPT, into a theme that it has been my heartbeat for the last several years, which is what it really means

to live a Jesus-shaped life, to imitate Jesus authentically, not just with religious language

and ethical ideology, because sound biblically informed theology is so much more about developing intimacy with our Creator Redeemer than it is about

impressing other Christians with multisyllabic terms in Us For and No More echo chambers. The closer we get to our Savior,

the more we should begin to resemble his humility and compassion and bear the fruit of his spirit,

which has the potential to transform our families, our friendships, our church communities,

as well as to bellow genuine love, joy, peace, and hope to this beautiful, albeit broken world

around us. Theology is anything but sterile subject matter, y'all. It was meant to be

lived, not just learned, because God isn't a proposition to be examined. He's a tri-yenne

personhood with whom we get to engage. So please grab yourself a yummy ice latte, preferably

with a dollop of whipped cream if you're drinking it the way we like to drink it, and grab your Bible, unless, of course, you're battling humidity like we are here in Nashville and need both hands to hold your hair down unless it swells into a frizzy chia pet-like adornment on top of your head, and come hang out on the porch with us.
