Andrew Steinman, where we discussed the fascinating

world of biblical chronology.

Andrew has spent years studying the timeline of the Bible, when key events actually happen,

what else was going on at that same time, and why it all matters for our understanding

of the Bible's message for us today.

Andrew holds a PhD in Near Eastern Studies from the University of Michigan

and served as a distinguished professor of theology in Hebrew

at Concordia University in Chicago for over 20 years.

He's written many commentaries on various Old Testament books

and served as editor for the ESV Chronological Bible from Crossway.

Well, Andrew, thank you so much for joining me on the Crossway podcast today.

Oh, it's good to be here with you.

So today we're going to talk about biblical chronology, understanding the timeline of the Bible and the biblical story.

Maybe to start us off, though, I'd just love to know that's one of your interests, one of your areas of study as an academic.

What was it that first drew you to this area of study?

From an early age, you know, I was taught all these Bible

stories and it was emphasized at church, you know, that this happened at a certain time,

but wasn't always clear what time things happened. What day was it that Jesus walked out of
