0:00.0	Our great example and instructor in prayer is the Lord Jesus Christ.
0:13.0	In God's Word, we find everything we need to develop a life of prayer.

0:36.5	Well in John chapter 17, Jesus literally brings us with him into his place of prayer.
0:43.3	Can you imagine being there?
0:44.3	Can you imagine hearing the Son of God talking to the God of heaven, talking to his father?
0:50.3	Oh, what precious communion they must have enjoyed together.
0:54.4	And yet the striking thing about the prayer in John 17 is that Jesus is praying for others.
1:00.0	He's praying for his family, if you will.
1:03.0	He's praying for those that he loves, for the disciples that the Father has given to him.
1:08.0	And what does he begin to pray for them?
1:10.0	What we've already learned in John 17 that He prayed that God would be glorified, number one.
1:16.0	Number two, he prayed that every one of these disciples would come to know God for himself.
1:21.5	I think that would be a very good place for us to start as well.
1:24.4	But then he continues in this great prayer list. And might I just ask you, what is on your
1:30.2	prayer list today? I didn't say who. You may have a long list of people's names, but sometimes,
1:36.1	if you're not careful, we get in a habit of just reading names to God. God knows the names that are
1:41.3	on the list. And while it's good to call individual names,
1:44.5	I would ask you, what are you praying for them?
1:47.0	Are you praying anything specific for them today?
1:49.5	And if you are praying specifically, are you praying for specific spiritual things?
