Hey friend, it's Kristen. Grab your scriptures and let's dive into Leviticus 16, verse 17.

0:15.0

When the Israelites proved their unworthiness of God's higher law, he gave them a lower one, which we know as the law of Moses. The details

0:22.2

of the law were filled with symbolism meant to point the Israelites toward the Messiah. One such

0:27.5

symbol was that of the priest who would enter the tabernacle on the day of atonement. On this day,

0:32.8

the priest would enter the tabernacle on behalf of the people and offer a sacrifice. Of this, the scriptures say, quote, and there shall be no man in the tabernacle on behalf of the people and offer a sacrifice. Of this, the scriptures say,

0:39.0

quote, and there shall be no man in the tabernacle of the congregation when he go within to make an

0:43.9

atonement in the holy place. No one was in the temple with that priest when he went in to make an

0:49.1

atoning sacrifice. If he had questions, there was no one to ask. If he needed help, there was no one

0:53.8

he could contact. As the priest offered an atoning sacrifice, he stood entirely alone. Does that remind you of anyone else? The symbolism of this act was likely meant to remind the Israelites of their future savior, the one who would save them as he knelt alone in a garden and hung by nails on a cross.

When we think no one understands our loneliness, we can remember that Jesus knows exactly how

1:19.4

we feel. He suffered the greatest weight that any being has ever born, and he did it completely

1:24.9

alone. Jesus perfectly understands our loneliness. So the takeaway of the

1:30.7

day in five words or less is, Jesus knows your loneliness. Thanks so much for being here today and for
