This passage of Scripture we're in today is Mark chapter 15 and we're dealing with the death of Christ.

What I'd like to do in this study though is offer a historical apologetic for the death of Christ.

This is actually a section of Scripture that skeptics, you may not know this, you might not have been familiar with this,

but they will regularly challenge and object to some of the claims being made in the Gospels.

They'll suggest that, say, the robe that Jesus wear this purple robe they put on him, that didn't happen.

The quotes from the crowd, that didn't happen, that was just written there to make it look like Psalm 22,

that his feet weren't really pierced by nails, I've heard that before as well, that the sign over Jesus's head is not historical,

that Simon of Cyrene, the guy that helped carry the cross of Jesus, oh that didn't really happen, they just put that in there,

that the Roman soldier, that soldiers would not gamble for Jesus' clothing.

So these are some of the things that are important details around the death of Christ, that oftentimes skeptics will just sort of dismiss.

Now, if you hear your college professor tell you, oh yes, well, you know, sure, maybe Jesus was crucified,

but many of those details are fabricated, this is going to impact you, this is going to affect you, right?

Because we all know when you went to college, your professor was the smartest guy you ever met,

at least some of your professors were, and they're very much influenced your thinking about things.

Well, let's talk about that, we're going to get into that.
