Today's story is a powerful one.

It's from Genesis 22,

and it's about a father named Abraham and his son, Isaac.

Now, Abraham had waited a long, long time for a child.

God had promised him a son, and he finally gave him Isaac.

But then, would you believe it?

God asked Abraham to do something that sounds downright difficult. God told Abraham to take Isaac to a mountain and offer him as a sacrifice.

Now, tiny theologian, that might sound strange or scary, and Abraham didn't

understand it either. But Abraham trusted God. He packed up, took Isaac with him, and walked up

that mountain. Let's read part of what the Bible says in Genesis 22, 6 through 8.

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself

carried the fire and the knife. As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to

his father, Abraham, Father? Yes, my son, Abraham replied, the fire in the wood are here, Isaac said,
