Today's story is one of the most famous stories in the whole Bible.

Yep, it's got a giant, a shepherd boy, and one big win.

It's the story of David and Goliath.

So go ahead and grab your Day 14, Jesse Tree card, and your slingshot ornament.

So when you've got them say, got it?

Got it? Okay, here we go.

God's people, the Israelites, were in a standoff with their enemies, the Philistines,

and the Philistines had a champion named Goliath.

He was huge, like taller than a basketball hoop, and stronger than a sumo wrestler.

Every day Goliath came out and shouted at God's people,

daring someone to come fight him.

But no one would.

They were all terrified.

Until David showed up,

he wasn't a soldier.

He was a shepherd, just a kid. But he wasn't scared of Goliath. He said

the Lord will fight for me. That's right. Let's read from 1 Samuel 17, 45 to 47. David said to the

Philistine, You come against him of sword and spear and javelin,

but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty.

This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands.

All those gathered here will know that it's not by sword or spear that the Lord saves.
