Welcome to Out To Lunch, the podcast where intriguing people come out for a meal with me at

a restaurant of my choosing. I order lots of food and wine and charm them until they

tell me their worldly secrets. Because I've always found restaurant tables to be a fantastic

place to tease out confessions. Perusing today's menu with me is a member of Parliament I've

long had a lot of respect for. It's the witty and tell it like it is MP for Birmingham

Yardley, Jess Phillips. I've got to give out a ward to a school in my constituency later, but I

can think I think I can probably drink, I'll be fine though. This week's restaurant for Out

To Lunch is on Charlotte Street, just north of Oxford Street and it's called the 9th and it's

called the 9th because it is Juntenacca's 9th restaurants. The 9th restaurant he's worked in,

but it's definitely his. When I reviewed this place, what really struck me was the boost of flavour

on every single plate, but mostly the lack of ponds. Is that a fair word to use? I think it is.

And I thought, what a better place to bring somebody like Jess Phillips MP who is pretty much the

embodiment of down to earth. Shall we get inside? Jess! Hello, we're ready for you. Pleasure to meet you.

I'm pleasure to meet you. And so Jess, I have to ask you once said, you thought you'd met

posh people, but then you realised you don't only met people who eat olives. Would you like olives?

It's true though, that is the height of poshness. Do you think olives? Not now, I don't know.

my fingers are kind of, you know, and they crossed over each other. I wonder if he wouldn't do this
