| 0:34.6 | Welcome back to Buckeye Talk. I'm Stephen Means. That's Tafon Christink, and that is Andrew Gillis. We're taking a slight detour away from this |
| 0:38.3 | information overload today and just kind of picking brains here. And this isn't, as the host of the |
| 0:43.7 | podcast, there's never too much wide receiver talk. There's just never too much wide receiver talk. |
| 0:48.2 | And if Stefan were in charge, there'd never be too much off, too much linebacker talk. And if |
| 0:53.3 | Gillis were in charge, there'd never be too much offensive line talk. But today we're talking receivers. And it's based off, I think Matt Miller at ESPN, he put out a ranking of Ohio State's first round wide receivers over the past six or seven years here. And then it like sparked some things on Twitter. So I just thought, hey, let's get into the mix here. So we are going to be ranking Ohio State seven first round wide receivers. There are six official one. Well, five official. One on the way in about three weeks here and another one on the way in about 365 days here. So we included Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith in this mix. So just Garrett Wilson, Chris Olive, Jackson, the J Gigba, Marvin Harrison, Jr., Mecca, Colonna Tate, and Jeremiah Smith, will all be first round draft picks by the time we get to the summer of 2027. So we wanted to rank them. And I sent it to our textures as well, 614-3-5-0-3-3-1-5, two-week feature out 39-9 after that to rank them as well. people are asking, are we ranking them as like, who's the best player? Are we ranking them based off of what they did at Ohio State? Should we include the NFL? And I said, yes, it's up to you. It's your ranking. And we're just going to combine all of them together and get one consensus ranking. So how I did it is, I had Stefan and Gillis send me their rankings. I had the texters give out their rankings as well. And then from there, each of our individual rankings was worth like, you know how rankings goes. Like if you're number one, you get seven points. If you're number two, you get six points. We're worth that. The texters are worth double because the texters, they're big and matters more than us. |
| 2:21.2 | It will always matter more than us because, listen, without them, there's no podcast. |
| 2:23.8 | And so that's how we got one through seven. |
| 2:25.7 | And we are going to start at the bottom. |
| 2:29.5 | And by the way, there is only one consensus. |
| 2:33.3 | Like unanimously, this guy was ranked in this position. |
| 2:36.2 | I'm sure you guys can probably assume who that is. I was actually a little shocked that he was number one, but we'll get into that later. We're going to |
| 2:39.8 | start at the bottom with a Mecca Abuka coming in at number seven, was here from 2021 to 24, |
| 2:45.4 | five career catches for 2,868 yards and 24 touchdowns. |
| 2:51.0 | He was a five-star recruit when he got here as the number one wide receiver, |
| 2:54.5 | the number 10 overall player, the 2021 recruiting class. |
| 2:57.3 | It's 205 catches. |
| 2:59.3 | His first all-time. |
| 3:01.5 | He is the only one on, he is one of two guys on this list. |
| 3:04.5 | Actually, no, three. |
