Hey everyone, this is Mary Demuth, and this is Pray Every Day, where I pray through the Bible verse by

verse so happy to have you here on the 17th day of January and grateful for your presence here with Pray Every Day.

I just want to pray for someone who's been battling an addiction. Lord Jesus, I pray for my friend who just can't seem to get enough of the thing that they're addicted to.

I pray instead that their worship would change from worshipping that thing or that substance

or that item to worshiping you, that this kind of addiction is replaced by a greater worship.

And I pray today that they would bow the knee and entrust themselves to you surrender everything

and experience a peace of God which surpasses all understanding.

I know that those substances, we all know, that those substances and those things that we pursue

that we are addicted to cannot fill us.

But we weirdly think that they can and we keep pursuing more and more and more and

we become more and more empty. But you, Lord, are a shield about us. You are the one who fills us all the way up. And so we pray for my friend battling that addiction today, you would fill them all the way up and they'd walk away from it. In Jesus' name, amen.
