I thought it was too late. I thought I was too far from God.

That's what a fellow Bible bus passenger wrote to tell us. I'm Steve

Schweetz, welcoming you to through the Bible with Dr. J. Vernon McGee. But of course,

I think you know the answer. It wasn't too late. Our friend from Nashville, Tennessee

continues. I grew up in a Christian home where my parents enjoyed listening to

Dr. McGee. In my early adult years I walked away from God. I was a prodigal, far from home and far from God. It wasn't

until a series of events beat me down that I knew I needed to come back to God. I knew he was

the only answer to my problems, but would he take me back?

Well, no doubt that was also the question on the minds of the people of Judah

in Jeremiah's day. Have we walked too far away from God for too long?

Jeremiah said, no, God will take you back.

Turn around today.

And wouldn't you know it?

Our listener from Nashville got the same answer.

One day when I was traveling on business, the rental cars radio was tuned to the Christian

station and the familiar voice of Dr. McGee came over the speakers. He was talking about

the prodigal son and how the father ran to meet him when he was still far off.

I knew God was talking to me. Come home, God said, it's not too late. I thank him for second chances

and for his grace. I'm now back in the Father's arms. Well praise God. Now let's

pray and find out if Jeremiah's audience ran back to God as well.
