I've heard it said that man can live about 40 days without food,

about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only

for one second without hope.

So what do you do when your hope fails?

Where to find it, how to keep it, and what to do when it's tested.

Well, we're under way in our study of the Old Testament Book of Jeremiah, and if there was ever

someone who was living in a difficult reality, it was this old prophet, Jeremiah.

The truth is, it made him weep, and I mean weep a lot.

That's right, Jeremiah is called the weeping prophet.

Dr. McGee called him God's cry baby.

Why? Because Jeremiah knew that if the people of Judah didn't turn back to God, they had no hope

of surviving in this life or the next. You know, it's a thoughtful and serious study, so let's

begin with prayer. Lord, remind us today that our own thoughtful and

serious study, so let's begin with prayer.

Lord, remind us today that our only hope is in you.

It's not in our government, in the next election, churches, finances, family or friends.

Lord, you are our only hope and we rest in you alone. Help us to hear from

you today in Jesus name. Amen.
