Hi there, this is Mary DeMuth and this is Pray Every Day, where I pray you through the Bible verse by verse.

Super grateful to have you here on this eighth day of December as we march our way in Advent toward Christmas and the celebration of the birth of Christ.

And I hope that this finds you healthy and joyful and experiencing the presence of Jesus.

I want to pray for someone who is grieving the loss

of a grandfather. So Lord Jesus, I pray for my friend who's grieving a very difficult loss,

and I pray that you would be with them as they mourn, teach them how to grieve well, and thank you

that you mourn alongside us. You give us the language of grief through the lament Psalms, and you

teach us how to wail and to work through the pain that we have.

But that still doesn't take away the sting of the stench of death and the difficulty of death.

And so I also just lift up my friends today who've lost someone this year.

And it just is harder this time of year to

think about that loss. So hold them, cradle them, sing songs over them, and help them to know

they're not alone. I pray this in Jesus' name. Amen. All right, today I'm reading from Jeremiah 27.

We'll finish that up. It's verses 12 through 22 in the World English Bible, and this is what it says.

I spoke to Zedekiah, King of Judah, according to all these words saying,

bring your necks under the yoke of the King of Babylon and serve him and his people and live.

Why will you die, you and your people by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence,

as Yahweh has spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the King of Babylon.

Don't listen to the words of the prophets who speak to you saying, you shall not serve the King of Babylon.

For they prophesy a lie to you. For I have not sent them, says Yahweh, but they prophesy falsely in my name that I may drive you out and that you may perish and that the prophets who prophesied to you.

Also, I spoke to the priest and to all the people saying, Yahweh says, don't listen to the words of your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, behold, the vessels of Yahweh's house will now shortly be brought again from Babylon.

For they prophesy a lie to you. Don't listen to them. Serve the king of Babylon and live.
