Years ago, I was teaching Isaiah to a seminary class, much of teenagers.

And by the end, one young man said, you know, Isaiah gets a bad rap.

He's not as hard as everybody says he is.

I think people are afraid of his reputation.

And it scares them off from actually giving him a chance.

But once you know a little bit about Hebrew poetry and once you start looking for rhymes

and once you slow down to try to make sense of his symbolism,

he's amazing. And that was the best feedback I could possibly receive.
