As a writer, my guest actress Jennifer Westfeld, seems to be attracted to the biological imperative as comedy.

0:26.1

Her first film as a writer, Kissing Jessica Stein, was about a relationship between a woman who didn't quite know what she wanted until she met the right woman.

0:34.1

In her new film, her directorial debut, Friends with Kids, it's kind of about finding

0:39.4

yourself as a parent at a point where you didn't think you would ever be one. Thanks so much

0:43.1

for being here, Jennifer. Thank you for having me. And what's that about? Between these two,

1:38.3

and noticing sort of the strain of that early part of the transition when they're all sleep deprived and stressed

1:44.9

out and maybe sniping at each other. And we hatch this plan to beat the system and have a

1:52.5

child together and sort of find pure unfettered romance outside of that. 100% committed half the

1:58.8

time. That's what we just want to be.

2:04.5

But it's also, it's a really fast-moving film, too.
