Exodus 17.

I love this series on studying the names of God, mainly found in the Old Testament.

And the term Jehovah, you really only find it in the King James version.

Typically, we will read it as Yahweh, Y, H, W, H, H, the proper name of God.

But Jehovah really just means the existing one, that God is all

existing and he has always been and forever will be. And when we read about these names of the Lord,

we are going to see that God has different characteristics and attributes for who he is

and how he reveals himself

to certain characters.

And so the characters we're going to look at tonight are Moses and Joshua.

We're going to also cover some characters like Gideon, there's Abraham, that the Lord

would reveal himself to and mention his name, and his name is who he is. I mean, the character of God

is revealed in his names. And so when we study the names of God, and there's still dozens more

that God reveals himself. And I have this poster in my office. I've had it since college,

and I framed it, and it's it lists

you know Jesus Christ at the top and then hundred almost hundreds of names that throughout the

Bible from Genesis to Revelation of who God is revealed in different names. He's our shepherd. He's

our high priest. He's our Lord. He's our advocate. The list goes on.

There's so many names of God that appears throughout scripture. And we're just going to tackle

three. But I encourage you to study more on who God is and through his name. And one of the greatest ones is Abraham's story in Genesis chapter 20.

But for tonight we're going to be in Exodus 17.

And so we're going to start in verse 8.
