You know at one point in English history it was illegal to speculate that the king might die?

Not should we kill the king, but if you just floated the idea that someday in the eventual future,

the king might die. That was illegal to talk about. That line of inquiry was dangerous because it immediately

brought up, who then will be the next king? His idiot son, his smart but claimless bastard son,

his canny brother, the junior branch of the family that has a bunch of money in

castles and a cadre of their own idiot bastard sons, which believes they have the more

legitimate claim to the crown. You can understand how that kind of talk, though relatively

benign, would ultimately make courtiers antsy.

That's borderline dangerous talk.

Better for us all to just politely pretend the king is immortal

until which time he's fully vacated office.

Presently, Donald Trump is the triumphant god king of the Republican Party.

But one way or another, he'll be out of office in three years.

Three very long years.

Yes, they will contain roughly 8 billion media cycles,

but at some point, the king will be gone.

And then Republicans will have to figure out,

who is Prince Maga and absent Trump's massive personality, which is so humongous, it affects the tides, what will the Republican Party

look like? What will the GOP turn into in his absence? There are basically three possibilities when that happens.

Option one is that Trump has forever redefined the Republican Party in his image, and the

GOP moving forward will be a nativist, populist, protectionist, and isolationist party, until eventually when AI takes over and

makes us all cyborgs. Option two is that but darker. Trump is kind of a flashy P.T. Barnum
