It's always good to have old friends through the show.

It's been a while for my friend, Mr. Jason Reitman, who's made a bunch

of movies since the last time we've seen him here on this show or heard him on this show.

His newest film is The Frontrunner starring Hugh Jackman as Gary Hard. And first of all, it's so

good to have you back here. Thank you. It is always lovely to be sitting across from you, all of us. And I guess I was watching the film. The first thing I thought about

was that great line from the book where he says that the fine line between being a visionary

and being obstinate, which is exactly what Gary Hart was, isn't it? Gary Hart is a fascinating

litmus test, both for 1987 and for 2018, you know.

I think Matt By's book is asking questions that, you know, the movie is asking, you know.

It's the same questions that we're asking ourselves every day about, you know, what is frankly

relevant.

And what's, you know, great about the character of Gary Hart is you get this candidate who

was kind of infinitely electable, you know,

handsome, charming, Kennedy-ask, big ideas, press-indy ideas, you know, could kind of see around

every corner.

Also, a big physical presence, which is something we hadn't had in a political candidate.

Oh, that's interesting, yeah.

A guy who actually physically took a space in the room that made him feel the way a politician we thought

should feel. Yeah. I mean, there was a reason why he wanted to do that first, you know,

press announcement up at Red Rocks, you know, he was a man of the West. And he looked it,
