Summary

Our latest guest on Soundtracking is Jason Reitman, director and co-writer of Saturday Night. The story follows producer Lorne Michaels and a team of writers, comedians and crew as they prepare for the 1975 premier of Saturday Night, which of course became Saturday Night Live. Remarkably, and in keeping with the spirit of the show, composer Jon Batiste wrote much of the score live at the end of shooting each day.

Hi folks, how are you? I hope you had a glorious, a beautiful and not too blustery weekend. Thank you so much for

0:09.4

tuning in to another episode of my podcast, soundtracking with me, Edith Bowman. My joyful, for me

0:17.9

me anyway, weekly dive into a conversation about the beautiful relationship between film and music, sometimes TV too.

0:27.7

Sometimes those conversations go deep and really technical.

0:31.8

Sometimes they're a bit more kind of superficial and less kind of intricate.

0:40.4

But whatever we love the conversations in every conversation that we have and have had over a number of episodes have been joyous.

Speaking of a number of episodes, we are fast approaching our 500th episode. I can't quite believe it to be honest. We launched this little

podcast back in August 2016, just Ben and I. And we're so thrilled and grateful that we've been

1:05.4

able to do what we do and continue to do hopefully. So we're about 14, 15 episodes away from number 500.

1:13.7

Now that could mean that it happens at the end of April, beginning of May.

1:18.2

But as you know, sometimes we throw out double episodes.

1:21.8

So we might get there sooner than expected.

1:24.8

And we were thinking about ways of celebrating that huge achievement,

1:30.4

which would not have been possible without you deciding to listen and tune in

1:35.3

and be interested in the conversations and the guests that we have.

1:38.8

So we thought that it would actually be really lovely to celebrate our 500th episode with you.

1:46.4

And we would love to feature as many of you as is possible within that episode. So there are various ways that you could be involved.

1:53.5

Some of you may well be happy with sending in a video of which we could use the audio. We could use the video on our socials.

2:03.5

Some of you may well be happy with just sending a voice note, which you can do via email info

2:09.8

at edith bowman.com or on our socials. Some of you might want to just send an email. So those are

2:16.4

the things that we're looking for, either an email,

2:18.8

a voice note or a little video. And within that, what we'd like you to do is either tell us
