Xi Jinping, the general secretary and unelected president of the People's Republic of China

is making his first year, the first of the year, overseas trip.

We're told by the Financial Times, London,

that the trip will stop in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Malaysia.

This is Mr. She's trip to assure allies, the FTA says, that the relationship will

blossom.

Gentlemen, I come to Lance Gatling in Tokyo, writing at the Conno Chronicles, a reflection on what we've been through the last 12 days

since Liberation Day. Tokyo is most critical, not only because it's a large trading partner

to all the world and an economy that is prospering again after years of delay,

but also because it's critical for the defense of the whole region,

not only Taiwan, but the Philippines and Japan itself and the U.S. presence in Asia.

especially the Tokyo media, how has it responded in any fashion

to this topsy-turvy world we now live in?
