A very happy New Year to everybody listening to the first podcast of 2022.

One more week to go in the NFL regular season.

And week 17 turned out pretty fortunate for me all the way around. That was my worst week of the season. And week 17 turned out pretty fortunate for me all the way around. That was my worst week

of the season from a closing line value perspective, from a market entry timing perspective,

and just from a overall handicapping perspective, I would say. And what was a very good first 15 weeks of the season,

an all-timer, really, has come to a bit of a stumbling finish over the last two weeks. And so,

but I think part of it, honestly, it just comes down to fatigue. I'm doing all of this by myself.

It's a one-man show. I have connections and groups that I

talk with and I value those people a ton, but in terms of the day-to-day handicapping and reading

and researching and working over the course of a season, it just kind of, it wears you down,

especially when you're running, running really hot. So I'm just blaming that, but it was just, it was a week of bad bets.

And I had a profound comment to make about closing line value based on the tweet that I sent out,

which apparently is something that a lot of people disagree with.

And I was going to talk about that, but I'll save it for another time because right now we've got numbers and situations

and games and what's moving and all just a giant mess of games to talk about in week 18.

So I think it's more valuable to make some sense of that.

And then later in the week when these numbers are just all over the place

and nobody

can make much sense of anything with half of these teams being eliminated, we can get into more

of the nuances around CLV and why it's so important and every better listing to the show
