Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook Co-Arthur Eugene Daniels. It is Wednesday, January 31st. Here's what's

driving the day. Overnight, the House's Homeland Security Committee voted to move the impeachment

of Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas out of committee. The first step in the first impeachment of a

cabinet official in almost 150 years.

With this vote, it's possible that a full House vote takes place as early as next weekend,

given the setup of the House, it is expected to pass.

In that same vein, though, last night we saw the Wall Street Journal's editorial board in Alan Dershowitz,

former President Donald Trump's impeachment lawyer, both come out against the impeachment of Alejandro

Mayorkas. Also, in what's starting to feel like Lucy in the football, but, you know, like worse,

because the stakes are real. We are still waiting on bill tax for the long

negotiated bipartisan border deal this week. And infighting and a lot of politics seem to be

threatening to torpedo the border deal. As our colleagues on the Hill continue to talk to

members of Congress in both chambers,

they seemingly doubt whether the agreement can actually pass the chamber, especially starting in the Senate.

It's quite the fall from just weeks ago when it seemed like this compromise could win a majority of Republican senators over,

but there has been a bit of an exodus or some uneasiness at least,

as Donald Trump, Speaker of Mike Johnson and conservatives have all started to come out against the deal.

And this morning, top social media executives are heading to Capitol Hill for a Senate

grilling over how they handle child sexual abuse material on their platforms.
