Hi friends, I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of

the New Testament of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the stories of Jesus Christ's

life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, the miracles. We will

read three chapters a day and finish in 30 days so every month we'll read all four books.

This month we're going to start with the book of John. For many of us this is our first time

listening through the Gospels and I think this book is a great place to begin our journey this month.

As January continues we'll read Luke next and then Matthew and then Mark. Each month will be

a little bit different but we wanted to start this year with a fresh lens to these stories. We'll

use multiple translations but I wanted to start the year off reading from my Bible that I've

had for years. The one I read from most mornings it's a quest study Bible the NIV 84 translation.

So I'll read three chapters to you every day including today and you can listen or read along

in your own Bible and then I'll pray and that's it. So today is January 3rd day three and I'll

be reading John chapter seven through nine and the translation I'll be reading from this month is

NIV 84. John chapter seven Jesus goes to the Feast of Tabernacles. After this Jesus went around

in Galilee purposefully staying away from Judea because the Jews there were waiting to take his life

but when the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was near Jesus's brother said to him you want to leave

here and go to Judea so that your disciples may see the miracles you do. No one who wants to become

a public figure acts in secret since you are doing these things show yourself to the world

for even his own brothers do not believe in him. Therefore Jesus told them the right time for me

has not yet come for you anytime is right the world cannot hate you but it hates me because I

testify that what it does is evil you go to the Feast I am not yet going up to this Feast because
