Top U.S. leaders issued a warning on Sunday to Iran-backed militants. This, after a nighttime drone attack, killed three U.S. troops and wounded 25 more in Jordan.

President Joe Biden vowed that the U.S. will respond.

The events dramatically escalate the situation in the Middle East. The assault marks the first

time that American troops have been killed amid myriad drone and missile attacks on U.S.

forces in Iraq, Syria, and now Jordan. These all started after Hamas' October 7 massacre

of 1,200 Israeli civilians.

Already, GOP Hawks in Congress are calling for retaliation. Hit Iran now, hit them hard,

Senator Lindsey Graham tweeted. Target Tifron, Senator John Corden added. Expect to hear more about

this on Capitol Hill this week. House Republicans also unveiled

articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday.

They're accusing him of, quote, breach of trust and, quote, willful and systematic refusal to comply with the law.

The release of these impeachment articles come ahead of Tuesday's vote in the Homeland Security Committee.

It's being led by Congressman Mark Green and Republicans are expected to advance the effort along party lines.

We do expect a floor vote as soon as next week. So keep an eye on that.

And now for an update on former President Trump's trials and tribulations.

Politico's legal editor and Oracle, James Ramoser, sent us notes on the three

biggest things happening in Trump's legal world this week. Number one, in New York.

Trump was hit with a whopping verdict just on Friday in the Eugene Carroll defamation case.

The jury returned a verdict of $83.3 million, and the bulk of that money was in punitive

damages. So that's essentially a legal way of punishing a defendant for especially bad acts.

But in the coming days, Trump might be on the hook for an even larger civil judgment in one of his
