Hey, good morning. I'm Playbook co-author Rachel Bade. It's Friday, January 26th. Here's what's driving the day. Congressional oversight is notoriously weak, but yesterday Article 2 scored a point. Peter Navarro, the former trade advisor for Donald

Trump, has been sentenced to four months in prison for defying a subpoena by the January 6th Select

Committee. Speaking of Trump, yesterday the dispatches, David Drucker scooped that the RNC was considering

a draft resolution to declare Trump as the party's presumptive nominee. Now, this is despite Nikki Haley

still being in the race, and by the way, that's the exact opposite of the neutrality the RNC

promised they would keep during this primary process. But just a few hours later, David Bossy,

who authored that resolution, withdrew it from consideration, according to CNN's Caitlin Collins.

And Trump put out a social media post, thanking the RNC for considering the idea,

but saying he will win, quote, the old-fashioned way.

Lastly, there's some weird-ass shit going on with Tim Sheehe, who is the GOP establishment's pick

to take on Democratic Senator John Tester. It's a bit

As was reported Wednesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledged in a private meeting with his colleagues that Donald Trump doesn't want to give Biden a political win.

That blunt reality check, however, has sent the Senate GOP conference into a total tizzy. And
