In Florida, first responders were called to a reported house fire and found a deceased woman inside. In Missouri, sheriff's

deputies were called to a home for a reported shooting. The suspect claimed that he was getting

rid of the wicked. In Georgia, law enforcement arrested a man in connection to the death of a woman,

found in a creek. And in Indiana, a man called 911 and reported that he had beat his wife to death

with a hammer. All of this coming at you right now, here on Sword and Scale Daily.

At around 4.30 a.m. on Friday, January 17th, firefighters with the Broward Sheriff

Fire Rescue responded to a reported fire at a duplex in the area of Northwest 43rd Street and

northwest 4th Avenue in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Once firefighters arrived on the scene,

the flames were contained to only one side of the duplex and began working to extinguish the fire.

However, as they made their way through the home, they found what appeared to be a deceased

woman in a back bedroom. After roughly 20 minutes, the flames were out, and it was safe to go inside.

Detectives with the Broward County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene to conduct a death

investigation, and right away, it was evident that the woman's death was suspicious based

on the injuries.

They believed that the fire was caused in order to cover up the woman's death.

The victim was later identified as 54-year-old Paula Ribeiro.

Word of the fire traveled quickly, and Paula's daughter, Kimberly, showed up at the scene

to check on her mother.
