I was listening to Dory Monson today, our mid-day host here on Cairo, and I realized he starts every segment by saying what time it is.

Because as long-time listeners of the show will know I grapple with what to say when each segment starts.

I feel like I'm always just saying welcome back to TBTL, which is pretty redundant.

And if it's the middle of the day and you're driving around, it's kind of, I think, really helpful when the host gives a time check.

Say, you know, 803, well, or if it was Dory, it'd be like, you know, it's 103, and then you know, okay, you know.

But I feel like at night, maybe people don't want to be reminded of what time it is.

And also, I feel like if you listen to this show as a podcast, maybe it makes you feel less connected to us.

Well, and it's also so specifically related to, you know, the arbitration diaries.

That's the reason that most hosts give the time so often because people who are filling out diaries have to remember what they were listening to and at what time.

So how troubling, troubling is it that I didn't even know that.

That seriously, I, that had never crossed my mind for those of you that are not radio-efficient autos.

The way that, for the previous long time, they figured out what are the popular shows is they send out these booklets.

I feel like I can talk about this because this is changing now.

Right.

They would send out these booklets and then you were supposed to write down what radio shows you listen to at what times.

And what is, what is really troubling is that it never occurred to me that I should actually say what time it is so that people could remember.

Which could explain certain ratings challenges that we faced here at TVTL.
