First up, some breaking news from late last night, SCOTUS, in a five-four ruling, rejected President-elect

Donald Trump's bid to block his sentencing on his criminal conviction in the Manhattan Hush Money

case.

Two of the court's conservatives, Chief Justice John Roberts, and Justice Amy Coney-Barrid

joined the court's three liberals to turn down Trump's attempt to avert the sentencing hearing, which is scheduled

to take place later today.

And a scoop this morning in playbook from political's Adam Wren, Trump's team is eyeing Florida

Division of Emergency Management Executive Director Kevin Guthrie to lead the Federal Emergency

Management Agency.

Say all that two times fast.

A position as crucial as ever.

And Trump's incoming FEMA director will have his hands full, in addition to the fires raging in Los Angeles, which will consume tens of billions of dollars in federal disaster aid.

Western North Carolina is still recovering

from Hurricane Helene, the devastating storm that struck during the fall and claimed more than

200 lives.

Meanwhile, today the Supreme Court will have a high-profile proceeding of its own, as it hears

TikTok's challenge to a federal law that would effectively

shut down the Chinese-owned app in the United States. Without intervention from the court,

TikTok is set to be banned in the U.S. on January 19. Today, the company is going to try to convince
