story telling to do so over a few courses of top food. Hello boy, does today's guest have a story.

Her memoir handstands in the dark tells the childhood of neglect, abuse,

gannel and violence and her mother's murder and somehow. When she talks about it all,

she still manages to be hilarious as you'll hear. So not an episode to listen to with the kids,

this one. Her life also forms the backdrop for a stand-up comedy widely praised by critics and

fellow comedians alike, including Billy Connolly, who called her an effing great comic. Although Billy

didn't say effing, he said something else. But well, I wanted to ease you in gently. There is very

strong language from the outset of this podcast. You have been warned. When she's not doing stand-up

writing or acting, my guest writes and voices are Glazweegin, interior monologue for the likes of

Ivana Trump and Nicholas Sturgeon on her brilliant videos which routinely go viral on social media.

Recorded remotely, it is of course the glorious, Janie Godley. They were not prepared for a

comedian. So they kept saying things like, you can't have that word and I'm like, what about

aunt? And they were debating the word and I'm like, guys, I'm fucking joking. I'm not going to

It moves when you touch it. That's actually brilliant because I'm not going to give away your

exact location, but I understood you were in the apartment and then thinking, oh, is she on a

ground floor? No, I don't. No, I live in the West Ender Glasgow and I have these backdrops. My

husband got me them and it means that when I'm doing stand-up, there's one more brick wall and then

it just means that everybody's no seeing my 1996 curtains that have never changed.
