Hello, and welcome to another special edition of the Cinefiles where we are re-releasing the films of the great James

Conn who we just re-lost a few days ago and the film we're putting out today is a TV movie John

It's Brian's song with Billy D Williams and Jack Warden and it's one

This is a movie that's just gonna make me cry every time

And I think most men of around our age

Probably have a soft spot in their heart for this film

Yeah, absolutely, and this is a young James Conn again, you know, he's kind of establishing himself

And this is such an interesting decision to take on a role like this

Especially because as you said it's it was a TV movie, but I think it might have gotten a theatrical piece. Yeah, yeah, yeah, so

But his performance here is so interesting because he starts out being this guy you don't 100% know if you like

He's a he's a fighter. He's a he's a guy who's like

Yeah, he's like Captain America, right?

He's like sitting there going I can do this all day, right?

You know, he's not as skilled or as talented, but his heart is bigger than just by anybody else on that team

It's desired to be part of this team is so huge and then you know eventually he negotiates this relationship with Gayo Sayers

And would play by Billy D. Williams and it becomes really good friends with him to the point where you're seeing a

Black man and a white man establish a very strong friendship

Where color disappears except for when you know, they're talking about certain things

But color really disappears and it's about friendship and humanity and the connection that they have with each other and

The reason this moves so many men as much as it does is James Conn's performance

Billy D. Williams is good in this film. Don't get us wrong. Oh, don't get me wrong

But it's James Conn's performance in that bed James Conn's performance when things start to fall apart
