On today's show we take a deeper look at the British election to be held on June 8th.

Conservative Prime Minister Theresa May called the snap election to broaden her majority in Parliament,

but things don't always turn out as planned,

and Laborers Jeremy Corbin is closing in making this a very tight election,

and one that is seeing a resurgence in class politics from the left.

We speak to journalist and author Paul Mason in London and then blogger and analyst Kevin

Ovendon in Athens.

All this and more on Jacobin radio in just a moment. Theresa May call a general election for the 8th of June claiming that the

opposition parties were jeopardizing her government's preparations for

Brexit. Now remember that she was in favor of a hard Brexit and

when she called the election in late April the Conservatives were polling 21 points ahead of

labor. That's no longer the case is Jeremy Corbin, Labor's candidate has

surged in the polls. Currently the Conservatives have 330 members of

Parliament giving the party its working majority of 17.

Labor has 229.
