If you get asked to do something or tasked with something on the set of a film, make it happen.

Like that's how you move ahead in the film world.

On today's episode of the Colin and Samir podcast, we talk to our friend Jack Coyne.

Jack is a New York-based filmmaker and YouTuber who got his start working with

Casey Nystad in New York City. And the way they started working together is really interesting.

We get to talk to him a little bit during this episode about it. Jack worked with Casey for over

nine years. And during that time, he launched a technology company with him called Beam. And eventually

Beam was bought by CNN and turned into a news network. And that's actually where we met Jack

for the first time. We made a video about Beam. They invited us to their office and we got to sit

with Jack and talk about ideas for how we could work together.

So with a lot of excitement, we came back to L.A. thinking we were going to work with Beam,

which was kind of a dream come true for us. And four days later, we saw the BuzzFeed article that said

Beam News is getting shut down. That day, Jack sent us an email and said, I'll keep you posted.

Everything's kind of crazy right now.

Two days later, sent us an email and said,

Beam has been shut down.

I've been let go.

Do you guys want to go on a road trip?

So quick side note, Beam did not fully get shut down.

It's actually still operating, but it's in a completely different place now.
