What is it about the women of the Bush family that captured

your attention? And when did you first begin thinking you wanted to do a book about them?

Well, the idea really sort of goes back a good 22 years to when I interviewed Barbara Bush for

a women's magazine. And I wanted to at that time follow my book

Jackie Ethel and Joan, Women of Camelot, which was about Jackie Kennedy, Ethel Kennedy, and Joan

Kennedy. I wanted to follow that book with a book about Barbara Bush.

When I asked her if she was interested in that, she told me she was at that time writing her autobiography, and she wanted to, you know, just take that project and let that be the final word.

Her husband, H.W., the president, President Bush, told me, you know, let her get that out of her system and then she'll come back to you, right? Well, that book went on to become a bestseller for her and she

never came back to me. So I went on with my career and I, then I wrote about Elizabeth Taylor

and on and on and on. But a couple of years ago, I wrote a book called Jackie Janet and Lee,
