It's always a bit of fun. I've been for a number of years, didn't go this time around, because a few of us have sort of kind of lost the will to live on it. I don't know why. And also it's midweek for me, so I'd have been a very tired bunny coming in today. So we decided to give that one

a miss. But Shirley Bassie topped the bill, Bet Middler was on, which is odd actually. I remember

seeing an interview with Bet Middler on the telly the other day, thinking, is this an old interview, a current interview. She's exhausted at the moment because she's in Vegas. I think she's contracted

to do something like 300 shows and she's only, she's only done 70. In fact, I was watching

one of them, she's at Caesar's Palace in this huge auditorium. It's enormous. I mean,

absolutely enormous. And she's doing all the stuff and halfway through, she's, she's playing a

little song and a little ukulele and she goes, I'm so tired. Which I thought it made everybody laugh. But of course, she was being absolutely honest. She's absolutely, absolutely very tired. So, the Royal Variety Performance raises a lot of money for the entertainment artist Benevolent Fund, which is great.

Bob Geldof's formed a new band-aid. I think it's going to be one direction and a few other people.

Certainly not half as many as was in the original 80s line-up when they had, you know, Phil Collins, Sting, George Michael.

It's interesting when we look at the pictures. A lot of the papers like to do a retrospect in what they look like then. I mean, Bob Geldof's let himself go completely. I mean, it just really is completely unrecognisable. He's got a fortune of, they say, 32 million pounds. Really? What, just through doing, do they know, not through doing is sort of, you know, they don't like monday stuff Phil Collins has a fortune of a 115 million pounds he's he's aged okay actually

Paul young we've done before I mean it was in the 80s you know some people are literally

unrecognizable totally um banana rammer and this is, Karen Woodward was in there. I don't think

I'd recognise, um, Simon Le Bonn. I really wouldn't, but there again, you see, I don't recognise

myself sometimes when I look back at early picture. George Michael changed beyond belief. We sort of
