On this episode, we have the news is me, Brittany Clint, and Sam, as always.

And we also have a special guest, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

One of the senators from New York State is here to talk to us about her work and about

the work at hand in the US Senate.

On this tax bill, which is as toxic and as corrupt as you possibly could imagine, just

one example from your background.

You know, as a teacher, you might buy pens and pencils and supplies.

You don't get to take a tax deduction on this bill, but the corporation, they still

get to deduct all their office supplies.

Like, it's such BS.

Before we begin, I'll leave with a quote that's been on my mind.

It is they do not need to silence us if we do not use our voice.

We often hear people say the silence when I save us, and that is true.

In over the past three years, we've seen people use their voices in ways they didn't

know they could, and that has been incredibly powerful.

This quote, though, reminds me that one of the ways that oppression persists, one of the

ways that dominant culture persists, is that it convinces us to believe that our lives

are too busy, that there's too much stuff going on to speak out about everything, or to

talk about what's happening, that we often feel alone in our stories.

But the reality is that there's so many other people who are living lives with the same

pain and the same joy and the same trauma and the same successes as we are.
