Well, it's over with former Chiefs Coach Britt Reid as he is in jail. He's incarcerated right now as we record this podcast on Tuesday afternoon, November 1st.

Britt Reid has been sentenced to three years in jail after the car accident where he nearly took the life of little Ariel Young, who was then five years old, and suffered brain

damage and permanent disability. It has been a long road, as you know, that was well over a

year and a half ago, and Britt Reid struck a plea deal a couple of weeks ago, a few weeks

ago in September, made sure he would not be going to jail for

any more than four years. Family was none too happy with that, but the judge in the sentencing

today sentenced Britt Reed to three years in prison. It was pretty dramatic in the courtroom as

little Ariel Young was there. They remanded him into custody. It took him right into custody.

As soon as the sentencing was over, so Britt Reid is in jail.

Three years of the sentence, one would assume that he'd get out earlier than that on good behavior.

This will not be a pleasant experience for Britt Reid. He has had a tumultuous and difficult life.

We have chronicled his drug problems, his addiction problems, his dealing drugs problems, his crime problems. And now his DUI, he's had gun charges. Look, Britt Reed and his late brother have had very, very, very bad lives.

They've done a lot of bad things that have hurt other people.

And we hope Britt Reid is learning from this now, that this will be the end of it,

that he'd be substance free when he gets out of jail,

he gets out of prison whenever that is.

He was taken into the Jackson County courthouse and he's going away for three years. This is a, as I mentioned, a dramatic

proceeding today. They requested from the media to please not show Ariel Young's face. She was in the

courtroom. And what happened was simply this. As she was there and

walking in, there were her mother and another person on each side of her holding one arm,

helping her walk, but it looked like she was moving her legs pretty good. It didn't show her head,

her face, or anything like that that's been taken out of this thing. But they thought it important to go there with Eric Young, more on the family in a moment because they're apparently outraged by the outcome of this. I'm not. I know a lot of people that thought Britt Reed, as a high profile and really rich guy would find his way to game the system and not spend any prison time. That did not happen.
