This is the movement of the Holy Family, leading people to Jesus through friendship, good conversation and the Rosary. So welcome to our Rosary meditation.

I'm blessed this evening to be with Archbishop Naman and Monsignor Sweatland.

We had a great meal and sad to say that we watched the Reds beat the Cardinals.

There's always another day.

But now we're gonna pray the Rosary.

So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Let's call the mind all those we promised to pray for, especially for

little Olivia Caneli for the healing of Damien, for Deacon Steve White to fully recover from his heart surgery and

for all those that we've promised to pray for. Now we've been traveling through

and learning about the cardinal virtues and we entered into temperance and in the next few days we're going to dive into the seven deadly sins and the conquering virtues but before we do I think it's

important to remember that too many people think Catholicism is a religion of what you can't do rather than what you can.

And there's no sense in talking about temperance, which is about avoiding sins.

If you think God just forbid sins and inflicts punishments, which can lead people to hate God.

I think we all fall into it the trap in some way of thinking

sin is the pleasurable stuff while virtue is what you want other people to have

so that they don't anger you but we don't want

virtue because while it might make us good it makes us boring. See that's the

problem. Plenty of people see the major goal of the Christian life as avoidance of sin.

If you were to ask the question, what's a good Christian?

You'd get a lot of people who'd answer in a purely negative way.

A good Christian is someone who doesn't fornicate or murder or get drunk or do drugs or tell dirty jokes or steal.

But someone isn't a good Christian or even a good person
