Today for a moment, we're slowing down and we're pausing and we're remembering the cross.

And I brought an image to mind a few weeks ago in a sermon.

I talked about the difference between being done and being finished.

And if you'll remember,

maybe you didn't hear the message, and this is your first time here, but if you did, I compared the difference between times in our life when we think we're done, and there are times when we're

really finished, like we're really done with something. So you have seasons of your life where maybe

you're done with your kids in high school,

but you're really not finished with parenting. And there's so many images of being done versus

being finished. And some of us, if we're honest with ourselves, we are way more good at starting

things than finishing things. Like I wonder if anybody else like me would say, I'm a lot better at

starting things than finishing things

well when you look at the character of Jesus and in particular the cross one of the things

that we see so beautifully is that Jesus that God is a finisher that there's nothing God starts that he

doesn't finish and Jesus when he was hanging on a cross there was this one phrase that he doesn't finish. And Jesus, when he was hanging on a cross,

there was this one phrase that he spoke right before he breathed his last breath.

And what he said was, he said,

it is finished.

May this powerful statement,

literally the word he used means paid in full.

It is finished.

And the power of that statement for us today, there's so much power in those few words for our lives,
