Here's some of today's top stories from the Los Angeles Times.

Israeli forces push deeper into Gaza City Wednesday, marking the second day of a ground offensive

that's been widely condemned.

Over the past few days, Israel's military says it struck the city more than 150 times.

Those strikes toppled high-rise towers in areas crowded with tent camps. Local hospitals

report that overnight, at least 16 people were killed, including women, children, and a pregnant woman.

Meanwhile, multiple strikes hit Gaza City's Rintisi Children's Hospital Tuesday night. About half of the patients fled, but around 40,

including eight premature babies, remain inside with medical workers. Israel has repeatedly advised

people in Gaza to evacuate. The military opened a temporary corridor Wednesday, allowing people

to move south for just two days.

But many Palestinians remain cut off without access to internet or phone service after

strikes hit northern Gaza's main network lines.

Before the offensive, about a million people lived in Gaza City.

Israel estimates that more than 300,000 people have left, but the UN says hundreds of

thousands are still trapped. The UN aid groups and Qatar are calling for the operation to stop,

with UN experts accusing Israel of genocide, an allegation that Israel strongly denies.

And in other news, Charlie Kirk's killing is exposing the undercurrent of white supremacy in Orange County.

In Huntington Beach last week, a candlelight vigil for Kirk turned dark when dozens of men stormed the Huntington Pier Memorial, chanting, quote, white men fight back. Then on Saturday night,

the white nationalist group, Patriot Front, marched down Main Street. The men whose faces were all

concealed by white gaiters shouted things like, quote, say his name and, quote, take back our land.
