We come to Gaza front, a surprise, a surprise these last days.

And Jeff, what were your first thoughts when you heard the news Saturday morning about the attack?

Well, I guess I was surprised when not stunned.

You know, one has to remember that wars between Amos and Israel have occurred on a regular basis in 2008 and 2009 and 2012 and 2014 and 2021 and 2023.

In my time in Israel meeting with the Israeli military, they would refer to conflicts with Amos and in the Gaza Strip

as quote unquote, mowing the grass that periodically you have to mow the grass, which I always thought had a certain degree of overconfidence that may have been displayed here in 2023.

So I was, like I said, not surprised that they would attack necessarily.

I was totally surprised and struck by Israel being so completely surprised by this.

This was a strategic operational and tactical success on the part of Amos.

And therefore, a failure of monumental consequences for the Israeli intelligence service, both Mossad as well as the military directorates who have literally hundreds if not thousands of operatives, all of whom speak Arabic, monitoring, all of Amos's radio transmissions, telephone calls.

They have human informants, they monitor social media, all of those things and could not find even an inkling.

So Amos's ability to plan, organize, equip a force of thousands to conduct this attack under the nose of the Israelis with now one hint is an amazing success on their part, but a catastrophic disaster for Israeli intelligence.

Furthermore, as this war unfolds, while the nation will rally, while the Israelis will rally, do the flag as they always have it passed.

There will be a day of reckoning for the Israeli government.

I look back to 1973 and another surprise when the Egyptians crossed the current canal and surprised the Israeli military.
